The Munxar side is the southern arm of St Thomas Bay, away from the sand. It is a line of boathouses with flat rock in front of them. Steps and ladders go into water that is clear once you are past the weed at the edge.
It is about ten minutes on foot from Marsaskala and there is parking along the shore road. Many people prefer it to the beach itself. Somewhere to eat sits at the head of the bay. The shore opens east, so a strong easterly puts chop straight into it.
It is sheltered from the south-east round to the north-north-east. There is no open water on those bearings for a wind to build a swell across. It is open to the east-north-east to the east, where the sea runs for kilometres before it reaches this shore. A wind out of the north-east and the east-south-east has some water to work with but not the full run.
