What is on the map

This map holds every temple, museum, village, viewpoint, market and night out in Malta, Gozo and Comino. Use the buttons to choose what you want to see.

The seven categories

Temples and prehistory
The megalithic temples, the Hypogeum, the cart ruts, Għar Dalam and the sites you need permission to see. Thirteen in all.
Museums and historic buildings
Heritage Malta sites, the cathedrals, the war rooms, the palaces, the watchtowers and the forts. This is the biggest category by a long way, at forty-eight.
Towns and villages
All sixty-eight of them. Malta and Gozo are divided into sixty-eight local councils, so we used that list rather than picking favourites.
Nature and viewpoints
Cliffs, salt pans, valleys, gardens, nature reserves, the Blue Lagoon and the Victoria Lines.
Nightlife
Where the evening happens, which is a shorter list than the reputation suggests.
Markets and food
Marsaxlokk on a Sunday, Ta’ Qali, It-Tokk (the market square) in Victoria and Is-Suq tal-Belt (the covered food market) in Valletta.
Days out and family
Popeye Village, the aquarium, Esplora and the rest of the places you go with children.

Each pin opens a card, and where we have written a page about that place the card links to it. Beaches are not here. They have their own map on the beaches page, coloured by the wind blowing today. Mixing a live ranking into a sightseeing map would help nobody.
