Gozo tours

Day trips to Gozo, with and without the ferry queue.

Getting to Gozo involves a ferry and a drive. An organised day trip handles both for you. You are paying for the logistics.

With or without the ferry queue

What a tour removes

The crossing and the driving

You are collected, taken across, driven around the island and brought back. On a summer day when the Ċirkewwa queue is long, that is worth real money.

It also means you see four or five places rather than the two you would manage alone on a first visit.

What you give up

Time at each stop

An organised day means somebody else decides how long you get at Dwejra and the Citadella. That suits a first visit and frustrates a second.

If you have been before, hire a car in Gozo instead and set your own pace.

The alternative

Stay a night

Sleeping in Gozo changes the island completely, because it empties once the day boats leave. Two nights beats any day trip.

People stay mainly for the farmhouses.

Which suits you

Take a tour if
You have one day, no car, and want the Cittadella, Dwejra and a swim without planning any of it.
Go independently if
You have a car or are happy on Gozo’s buses, and would rather choose your own pace. The ferry takes foot passengers with no booking at all.
Either way
You pay the ferry fare leaving Gozo, not arriving. See ferries.
A day is not enough

A day trip gives you roughly five useful hours in Gozo after the crossings. One night roughly doubles that and changes the island entirely, because the day boats leave. If Gozo matters to you, stay over.
