Malta Central publishes under one name: its own. There are no personal bylines, no author photographs and no contributor profiles, and that is a deliberate choice rather than an omission.
Why there are no bylines
Almost nothing on this site is an opinion piece. A page about the single permit, or the direction Għajn Tuffieħa faces, is not improved by knowing who typed it. The questions that matter are whether the page is right, when it was last checked, and what it was checked against. Those three things are on the page. A name would only add the impression of authority without adding any of the evidence for it.
It also keeps the site honest about maintenance. A bylined article belongs to whoever wrote it and quietly rots after they lose interest. A house page belongs to the site. The site is responsible for it indefinitely.
What that commits us to
- One standardEvery page is held to the same rules, because no page can be excused as one contributor’s view.
- A dated pageThe last-verified stamp is the byline. It tells you what a name cannot: how stale this is.
- No hidden handsNobody outside the site writes here. No guest posts, no supplied articles, no paid placements dressed as editorial.
What we do not accept
We do not accept guest articles, contributed posts, link insertions into existing pages, or finished copy from a business about itself. If you represent a company and want to appear on Malta Central, there are two routes. You can take a clearly labelled sponsored piece, or advertising. Both are marked as what they are.
Local knowledge is welcome and often better than ours, but it comes in as information we then check, not as copy we publish. Tell us what you know and we will do the verifying.
