The road in follows a valley for a couple of kilometres and ends at a narrow pebble beach with cliffs on both sides. There is one restaurant on the water and nothing else.
The inlet is deep and sheltered, which makes it a favourite with divers and with anybody who would rather jump in than wade. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie filmed By the Sea here in 2014, and the bay has been steadily busier since. Park at the bottom if there is space, because the hill back out is steep and the verges are narrow.

Which winds this bay can take
It is sheltered from the south-south-west round to the east-south-east. There is no open water on those bearings for a wind to build a swell across. It is open to the south-east round to the south, where the sea runs for kilometres before it reaches this shore.
