Gorgun is a small rocky inlet on the west side of Gozo with no road to it and nothing built on it. Getting there means leaving the car where the track gives out and walking the last stretch over open ground.
The reward is a swim with nobody else in it, off rock into deep water. There is no shade, no water and no shelter of any kind, so it is a short visit rather than a day out. It is open to the east and to the south-west, and the south-west is the quarter most of Gozo’s weather arrives from.
You will want a car for this oneThe bus does not come close, and the last stretch is a track rather than a road.

Which winds this bay can take
It is sheltered from the west-south-west round to the north-east. There is no open water on those bearings for a wind to build a swell across. It is open to the east and the south round to the south-west, where the sea runs for kilometres before it reaches this shore. A wind out of the east-north-east and the east-south-east round to the south-south-east has some water to work with but not the full run.

Measured as metres of open water on each bearing out from the shore. This is the bay’s own geography and it does not change; whether it is swimmable this afternoon is the reading at the top of the page, which also weighs how hard the wind is actually blowing.
