The walk in is over open ground and the entry is off the rock. There is nothing at all here: no shade, no water and nowhere to sit that is not limestone. It is sheltered from everything except the south-west, which makes it dependable through most of the summer.
It is sheltered from the west-north-west round to the east. There is no open water on those bearings for a wind to build a swell across. It is open to the south round to the west-south-west, where the sea runs for kilometres before it reaches this shore. A wind out of the east-south-east round to the south-south-east and the west has some water to work with but not the full run.
