Exposed today. The wind is NW at 35 km/h.

Paradise Bay is a short crescent of sand at the top of the island. You reach it down a long flight of steps from the car park. The Gozo ferry passes the mouth of the bay through the day, which is either part of the appeal or not.

The beach is small and it fills quickly, but the water deepens sooner than at Għadira and it stays clear. There is a lido, somewhere to eat and sunbeds for hire. The bay is tucked behind the headland at Ėirkewwa, so only a westerly reaches it. It is a good alternative when the north-east is rough.

Which winds this bay can take

It is sheltered from the north-north-west round to the west-south-west. There is no open water on those bearings for a wind to build a swell across. It is open to the west to the west-north-west, where the sea runs for kilometres before it reaches this shore. A wind out of the north-west has some water to work with but not the full run.

Measured as metres of open water on each bearing out from the shore. This is the bay’s own geography and it does not change; whether it is swimmable this afternoon is the reading at the top of the page, which also weighs how hard the wind is actually blowing.

Struck through means it is not there. Facilities at a Maltese bay are seasonal more often than not, so treat summer as the best case.
