Attractions

  • Luqa

    Luqa gave the airport its name. The village sits just north of the runway.

  • Lija

    Lija is the third of the Three Villages, and people know it for the fireworks at its August feast.

  • Kirkop

    Kirkop is one of the smallest villages on the island, in the south near the airport.

    Kalkara is a creek village across the water from Birgu. Esplora and the naval cemetery are both here.

    Iklin is a small modern village between Lija and Naxxar, and almost entirely residential.

    Ħamrun is a long high street just outside Valletta, and one of the busiest shopping streets on the island.

    Għaxaq is a farming village in the south-east. People know it for its two band clubs and the rivalry between them.

  • Gżira

    Gżira is a seafront town between Sliema and Msida, facing Manoel Island across the creek.

  • Gudja

    Gudja is a quiet village next to the airport, with a church square and very little traffic.
